Lies, Lies and More Lies…

Parents - You can’t live with them you can’t live without them!

And they tell white lies to make you do things they think is right… This morning we discussed things that parents tell you… I mentioned the fact that my mum used to tell me not to pick dandelions because I’d wet the bed, I still have no idea why she told me that; they’re weeds for goodness sake – who cares – maybe it was just my destructive nature at that time; whatever the reason, I did go through a stage of having ‘accidents at night’ so I wonder if that coincided with my dandelion pickings – oh well I didn’t keep a diary of these incidents so I shall never know.

Another thing my mum used to tell me was that the stalks of mushrooms were poisonous, so when I chopped them up I had to thrown them away. She now denies this absolute fib but I have no idea why she told me that and nor does she.

I can understand why parents fib to their children, I would imagine sometimes it’s the only way of getting them to do what you ask, but how telling it is that we all still remember those little white lies & some of them even shaped the person we are today – I still don’t eat mushroom stalks & can’t even look at a dandelion without an accident in the night!

Keep dry!
